Finally the time has come to reveal the theme for the 2024 York Nutcracker Christmas Trail

Hello!

The time has come to tell you about the theme for the York Nutcracker Christmas Trail 2024.

This year we are presenting <drum roll pleeeease> “Nutcrackers Around the World”. Ten festive Nutcrackers celebrating the locations around the world, where people of our York community are from.

Not only have I been working with the team at York BID, we have also been liaising with York council communities team.

As you make your way around the trail, you will discover Nutcrackers clad in the colours found in that country’s national flag, and adorned with symbols representing its rich history, such as National Flower, National Animal and in some case iconic and historic landmarks and points of interest. Gorgeous!

Around this time of year, some festivals look at what other countries around the world do to celebrate Christmas, so this time, the city of York is simply celebrating the rich fabric of nationalities that make up our beautiful City.

There’s even more! You can pick up a trail map from the Visit York centre on Parliament Street, and when you find all 10 Nutcrackers, and discover their countries, you can enter our prize draw to win a £250 York Gift Card. Simply return your entries to the visitor centre, or post them through Santa’s Post Box in Museum Gardens.

When can you see the trail? The trail will be in and around York from 14th November through to 1st January.

Enjoy the trail, and see how many countries you can discover. Don’t forget, each Nutcracker you meet is celebrating a country, that our city’s very own population is from.
